Hanging paper wallpaper

The substrate must be clean, dry, smooth and stable. Old wallpaper must be removed beforehand and cracks and holes filled.
A primer is recommended for highly or slightly absorbent walls (e.g. plasterboard).

Measure the wall height and add approx. 10 cm overhang.
Cut the wallpaper strips to size using a cutter or scissors. If there is a pattern, pay attention to the pattern repeat (this information can be found on the insert)!
Lay the cut lengths on top of each other in the correct order.

Mix the paste according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Then paste the back of the wallpaper evenly with a tassel or roller or alternatively pull through the pasting machine, depending on the manufacturer's instructions (usually 5-10 minutes) to allow the paper to expand.

Tip:
To find out whether the wallpaper needs a longer soaking time, we recommend using the ‘folding rule method’.
You will need a folding rule and a clock.
Measure the width of the wallpaper sheet when dry (53cm, 70cm or 1.06cm wide).
Paste the wallpaper as described on the insert, fold and roll up.
Now place the folding rule over the width of the pasted and rolled up roll. The width will be about 53.4 or 53.5. Repeat this step, looking at the clock. Once the wallpaper has reached a width of 54cm, this is the perfect time to apply the wallpaper to the wall.
Using this method, you will know how long the wallpaper has to give way for the next strips.

Mark a vertical line on the wall using a spirit level or plumb bob.
Align the first strip with the line and smooth it out from top to bottom and from the centre outwards using the wallpapering brush or pressure roller.

If air bubbles appear, smooth them out with a soft brush or pressure roller.
Then cut cleanly with a cutter along the wallpapering trowel on the ceiling and skirting board.

Apply each additional strip exactly to the previous one (do not overlap).
If the wallpaper has a pattern (repeat), make sure it is joined correctly.
Now smooth out the transitions with a seam roller to avoid open seams.

Important:
Please check the wallpapering result after 3 strips and keep the inserts and samples.
Gluing costs for more than 3 strips will not be covered.

Remove excess paste: immediately wipe or dab with a damp sponge.
If bubbles or open seams have formed, carefully re-glue.
The windows and doors should remain closed so that the wallpaper dries evenly (at least 24 hours).
