Surface showing through
A non-woven base is used as backing for non-woven wallpapers. This has a lower opacity than paper bases, i.e. the translucence is lower than with paper wallpapers. For this reason, it is important to prime the surface with an appropriate white pigment primer. Do not use emulsion paint for this as it will seal the surface.
Point 2 on the back of the package insert describes the procedure as follows: “The wall colour needs to be neutral. If not choose a white pigment primer.”
We recommend that you also pre-treat the wall surface for paper wallpapers with a primer as it will provide a good basis for papering, strengthen the surface and regulate absorbency.
